Jurisdictions

United Arab Emirates

Dubai & UAE matters require attention to the activity, the information involved and the laws that apply in each market. Ruchi Bindra supports technology, privacy and governance work from Calgary and Dubai. She is admitted in Alberta; advice on other jurisdictions is coordinated with locally licensed counsel where required.

Start with the regulatory setting

Location, activity and business model matter. Dubai outside DIFC, DIFC and ADGM have distinct regulatory contexts. I help frame the questions that determine the appropriate pathway and the legal work required. This is cross-border strategy and coordination, not a claim of UAE bar admission or an existing institutional affiliation.

Technology and regulated sectors

My work in the Gulf includes virtual asset regulation and real estate tokenisation, together with healthcare acquisition drafting and diligence. The focus is on identifying the legal rights, responsibilities and records that need to support the proposed activity before they become claims in a product or investor narrative.

UAE–India and Canada–UAE

The India–Canada–UAE technology corridor forms part of my transaction experience. Joint venture, technology licensing, company-law and tax-related questions need to be coordinated across the relevant advisers. I work to keep the commercial structure and the operating documents consistent across borders.

Structuring and licensing

Work includes company structuring, offshore arrangements, trusts and foundations, and application readiness for VARA and ADGM FSRA pathways. The appropriate route depends on the activity, location and facts, with qualified local and tax advisers coordinated where required.

Ruchi Bindra is a member of the Alberta Bar (Barrister & Solicitor) and first qualified as an Advocate in India. Advice on the laws of other jurisdictions, including the UAE and the United States, is provided in coordination with locally licensed counsel where required.
