About Ruchi
A seat at the design table.
Ruchi Bindra is an Alberta Barrister and Solicitor who first qualified as an Advocate in India. She works on technology governance, privacy, health data and cross-border transactions from Calgary and Dubai. Her roles include counsel within technology ventures and Co-founder of Ethics.legal, with five IAPP credentials supporting her practice.
The lawyer in the build room.
I am a Barrister and Solicitor called in Alberta and first qualified as an Advocate in India. My work has moved upstream: from reviewing what a technology company has built to helping shape the decisions behind it. I read the architecture, trace the data and ask the questions while the answers can still influence the design.
I was called to the Alberta Bar in September 2022. Requalification reinforced a discipline I carry into cross-border work: understanding one legal system does not remove the need to learn another. I prepare the position and the record together.
What roles does Ruchi hold?
I serve as Chief Legal Officer of BioAro Inc., a precision health and genomics company; Head of Legal for Vautra Technologies Inc., a sovereign data infrastructure company; and counsel to Xevyo, an AI platform. I am also Co-founder of Ethics.legal, with Ethics FZ LLC in Dubai and Ethics Inc in Canada.
My work includes health information governance, enterprise AI policy architecture, technology licensing, financing documents, cross-border transactions and regulatory advocacy. I maintain a litigation practice before Alberta courts. These are connected disciplines: each asks whether a position can be explained and supported when it is challenged.
A mission that guides the method.
To make trustworthy technology the default, by embedding law, privacy, and accountability into how systems are designed, financed, and governed across borders.
Integrity under scrutiny. Preparation. Candour. Stewardship. Curiosity across disciplines. Service. Those values shape how I work with a founder, an engineer, a board and a court. Honest counsel is most useful while there is still time to act on it.
Where is Ruchi qualified to practise?
Ruchi Bindra is a member of the Alberta Bar (Barrister & Solicitor) and first qualified as an Advocate in India. Advice on the laws of other jurisdictions, including the UAE and the United States, is provided in coordination with locally licensed counsel where required.
I hold AIGP, CIPP/E, CIPP/C, CIPP/US and CIPM credentials. I work in English, Hindi and Punjabi. Certification supports my work in AI governance and privacy; it is not admission to practise law in another jurisdiction.
