Website information
Privacy policy
This privacy notice explains how website enquiries, newsletter requests, technical data and optional analytics are handled. It describes purposes, service providers and ways to raise a privacy request. Google Maps and external links involve third-party services. The notice should be read alongside the choices actually enabled on this website.
Who to contact
Ruchi Bindra is the contact for questions about this website and its handling of personal information. Email ruchi@ruchibindra.com to ask about collection, access, correction, retention, service providers or a privacy concern. Please identify the request as a privacy enquiry and avoid attaching sensitive records.
Enquiries and the information you choose to provide
An enquiry may contain your name, email address, company, country, the general type of matter and a short message. This information is used to understand the request, respond, assess whether an engagement can be considered and maintain an appropriate record of the correspondence. Providing contact information is voluntary; without it, a response may not be possible.
Please do not send health records, identity documents, passwords, financial account details or confidential information about a dispute through this website. An enquiry is not a secure client intake process. If further information is needed, an appropriate channel can be agreed separately.
Where the form prepares an email, the message is not sent until you send it through your email application. Your email provider also processes that communication under its own terms. Any enabled website submission service will be identified at the point of collection before information is submitted.
Website delivery, cookies and analytics
Delivering a webpage involves technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested resource and time of request. The website host and any content-delivery provider may process this information to deliver resources, protect the service and investigate errors. Motion libraries may be delivered by an external content-delivery network; those requests do not include the contents of an enquiry form.
Optional analytics are disabled in the initial site configuration. If analytics are enabled, the site asks for a choice before loading them. Rejecting optional analytics does not prevent access to the website. Where a preference is saved in your browser, it is used to remember that choice. Use Cookie preferences to change it. Browser controls can also remove stored information.
The initial site does not load a booking calendar or advertising trackers. Following a link to LinkedIn or another website takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
Google Maps embeds load as the map section approaches the viewport. This contacts Google and shares ordinary network information, including your IP address, under Google’s privacy practices. Maps identify the supplied Business Bay district and 5th Avenue SW street, rather than a verified office suite; San Francisco is a service-area reference.
Email updates
An enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Email alerts require a separate, affirmative request. Until an email-update service is enabled and its collection notice is available, the website does not add addresses to a mailing list. Any enabled subscription service must identify the sender and provide a way to withdraw the request in each marketing message.
Applicable law and reasons for processing
The applicable privacy law depends on the activity and its connection to a jurisdiction. Relevant Canadian laws may include Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Consent is sought where required; statutory permissions and obligations may also apply.
Where the EU GDPR or UK data protection law applies, the basis for responding to a requested engagement may be steps requested before a contract. Managing ordinary correspondence and protecting this website may involve legitimate interests, subject to the applicable balancing test. Optional marketing and analytics rely on consent where required. Legal and professional duties may require some processing or retention.
Where UAE data protection law applies, including the federal Personal Data Protection Law or a relevant free-zone regime, the applicable grounds, rights, safeguards and transfer requirements must also be assessed. This notice does not assume that every privacy law applies to every visitor.
Service providers and cross-border handling
Website hosting, email delivery and any enabled form or subscription service can involve service providers and processing outside your country. Different legal access rules may apply in those locations. You may ask Ruchi Bindra at ruchi@ruchibindra.com about the providers used for your enquiry, their processing locations and the applicable handling practices. Any transfer requiring a legal safeguard must be assessed under the law that applies to that transfer.
Information may also need to be disclosed where law or a professional obligation requires it, or to address a legal claim. The website is not intended to collect information for sale or advertising profiling.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the purpose of the record, whether an engagement follows, applicable professional and legal obligations, any dispute or preservation requirement, and the service provider involved. No single retention period is asserted for every record. Ask the privacy contact about the period or criteria that apply to your information.
Information should be limited to what the enquiry requires. Internet transmission and ordinary email cannot be guaranteed secure. Please use the agreed client communication channel for an existing matter and report a suspected privacy issue to the contact above.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the applicable law, you may request access or correction, withdraw consent, object to particular processing, or request erasure, restriction or portability. These rights can be subject to exceptions, including professional confidentiality, legal duties and the rights of others. Identity verification may be needed before a request can be fulfilled.
You may also raise a concern with the privacy authority that has jurisdiction, including the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, an applicable European supervisory authority, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or the relevant UAE authority. Contacting this practice first does not remove any right to complain directly.
Changes to this notice
This notice should be read with any collection notice displayed when an optional feature is used. Material changes to the website's collection practices will require an updated notice and, where the law requires it, a new choice. The review date records a review of this text, rather than a guarantee that an external service has not changed.
